Refuge Updates

  • William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge Winter Sanctuary Season

    Effective November 1st the refuge interior closes to public access to provide sanctuary for wintering Canada geese and other waterfowl. For more information on the closure, click the link below. For trail availability see our Trail Descriptions page. The popular Mill Hill, Woodpecker and Homer Campbell Boardwalk trails are all open year-round!

    WVNWRC new Bird List

    We have a new bird list, all updated, revamped and looking quite spectacular! Thank you to volunteer and graphic designer, Jon Hazen for making this happen! Also, thanks to Joel Geier, Bill Tice and refuge staff for compiling the data. We hope you enjoy it! Tambien, tenemos uno en Espanol.

  • 2016 Finley Refuge Hunt Concludes

    Roosevelt Elk2

    The 2016 hunt ended on October 31st. There were at total of six elk harvested and one deer. Look for 2017 William L. Finley National Wildlife Refuge hunt information (elk and deer) here in early spring.
