In May 2016, NYSE Group completed the rollout of NYSE Pillar matching engines on NYSE Arca. NYSE Pillar is our new integrated trading technology platform that will enable you to connect to all of our equities and options markets using a single specification. NYSE Pillar was designed to reduce complexity, while enhancing consistency, performance and resiliency. The final phase of the NYSE Arca Pillar migration, the introduction of new NYSE Pillar gateways, will occur in February 2017.

Benefits

Once completely rolled out, the NYSE Pillar platform will enable you to connect to each of our markets – NYSE, NYSE MKT, NYSE Arca, NYSE Arca Options, NYSE Amex Options, Global OTC and NYSE Bonds – using a single specification and will include new gateways and matching engines. This new technology offers:

  • More efficient processing
  • Shorter time to market for ongoing enhancements
  • Simplified, harmonized order types, terminology and messaging across all of our markets

What You Can Expect

The first phase of NYSE Pillar implementation was completed when NYSE Arca migrated to NYSE Pillar matching engines. In February 2017, the second phase of NYSE Pillar implementation will culminate with the introduction of new customer gateways and connectivity. Market participants will need to write to the new protocols as well as establish new connectivity to NYSE Arca. Firms are encouraged to migrate to the new NYSE Pillar gateways as quickly as possible.

The NYSE Pillar certification environment for new gateways is available for now. New NYSE Pillar gateways are scheduled to be deployed in production in February 2017 in parallel with NYSE Arca UGW Gateways. In the coming weeks, we will provide you with information regarding differences between the existing NYSE Arca UGW gateways and the new NYSE Pillar gateways, including the anticipated retirement of NYSE Arca UGW Gateways.
