Land Use

Forest land, cropland and pastureland comprise the major non-urban land uses in New Hampshire. The majority of conservation treatment is targeted to these land uses to protect our soil, water, air, plant, and animal resources.

It is our agency's role to provide leadership and technical assistance for the conservation of our natural resources to ensure the continued production of food and fiber.

Across the U.S., major land use natural resource concerns include: (1) erosion by wind and water, (2) maintaining and enhancing soil quality, (3) water quality and quantity, (4) plant condition and health, and (5) wildlife habitat.
