Great American Smokeout

The American Cancer Society's Great American Smokeout is held on the third Thursday in November each year. Smokers are encouraged to use the date to take an important step toward a healthier life by making a plan to quit, or by planning in advance and quitting smoking that day.

Study Recruitment Announcement

The American Cancer Society is seeking former smokers to participate in research that involves helping smokers quit. You would mentor current smokers who are trying to quit by sending them supportive text messages over a two-month period. Your text messages would supplement the texts that smokers receive through an automated system, and would take about 5-10 minutes of your time per day. You would first complete a series of short online training modules, and be provided with a message bank to help guide your exchanges with smokers. You would be compensated for your time. You can sign up to be a mentor and find more information at www.iQuit.tips. Please contact us at iQuitTips@gmail.com if you have any questions about the study.
