James DeGale-Badou Jack bout ends in draw

In the first major bout of the year, James DeGale and Badou Jack fought to a draw in their super middleweight title unification bout, which should be in the running for fight of the year honors.

After the unification fight with fellow titlist Badou Jack ended in a majority draw Saturday night, James DeGale wouldn't mind a rematch. "He hit me (in the 12th), but I was more off balance. I respect him. He's a good, all-around fighter. Let's go again."

Super middleweight titleholder Badou Jack thought he won the unification fight against fellow titlist James DeGale. The bout ended in a majority draw. "I thought I won the fight. I finished stronger. His knockdown was a flash knockdown. I won the fight. He was doing a lot of running. Let's do it again at light heavyweight. It's time to move to light heavyweight."

Brock Osweiler threw two of his three interceptions targeting DeAndre Hopkins on Saturday. Osweiler threw 11 interceptions targeting Hopkins this season, the most by any quarterback to one receiver. Texans passers were intercepted six times targeting Hopkins last season.

Brock Osweiler was 1-of-8 with three interceptions on passes at least 15 yards downfield Saturday. Osweiler completed 26 percent of his passes of that length this season (including the playoffs), the third-worst percentage since the start of the 2009 season. Only JaMarcus Russell (22 percent) and Brady Quinn (24 percent), both in 2009, have had a worse single-season completion percentage in that time.

On Saturday, the Connecticut women defeated SMU 88-48 for the Huskies' 91st consecutive win. That broke the NCAA record for longest basketball win streak, which UConn set from 2008 to 2010. Fourteen years earlier on Jan. 14, Pat Summitt of Tennessee became the first women's basketball coach to reach 800 wins.

MGM has the Chiefs -1.5 while Boyd Gaming and Jerry's Nugget are at pick 'em. The over/under is 44.5 at most books.

Tom Brady was 7-of-14 with a touchdown on passes thrown 15 or more yards downfield, picking up 207 of his 287 passing yards on those throws. Brady was more effective throwing downfield (11 of 24) than on shorter passes (7 of 14). Brady had five such completions in two games last postseason.

Jazz coach Quin Snyder told the Utah media that Rodney Hood hyperextended his right knee. "Hopefully it's not serious," Snyder said. Hood went down late in the win over the Magic after his knee buckled while trying to leap for a layup in transition.

The Texans' season is over after they lost to the Patriots, 34-16. The defense played well to limit New England quarterback Tom Brady and intercepted him twice. But Texans QB Brock Osweiler could not take advantage, finishing 23-of-40 for 198 yards, with a touchdown and 3 interceptions. Houston has all the pieces to be one of to the NFL's elite teams, but they are missing perhaps the most important - a quarterback to get them there.
