President Barack Obama appointed Rick Metsger to be the ninth Chairman of the National Credit Union Administration Board on May 1, 2016.
Chairman Metsger has extensive public policy and private-sector experience in the areas of financial services, consumer protection, taxation, transportation and strategic communications. He also serves as NCUA’s representative on the NeighborWorks America Board of Directors.
President Obama nominated Mr. Metsger to serve on the NCUA Board on May 16, 2013. The United States Senate confirmed him on August 1, 2013, and he took the oath of office on August 23, 2013.
Prior to joining the NCUA Board, Mr. Metsger owned his own strategic communications consulting firm focused on financial services, capital construction, energy and transportation issues.
In addition to consulting and public service, Mr. Metsger has worked as a teacher and a radio and television journalist. From 1993 to 2001, he served on the board of directors of the Portland Teachers Credit Union.
