  • What is Text4Alerts?

    OCTA’s Text4Alerts service is a Short Message Service (SMS) that allows users to receive route detour, schedule change information, or important customer information on programs and services from OCTA via SMS or text messaging on their cell phone.

    How do I opt-in to for OCTA’s Text4Alerts service?

    You can opt-in to receive text alerts from OCTA by using your mobile phone or you can sign up in the get connected section of our website.

    How do I discontinue receiving text messages from OCTA?

    If you subscribe to OCTA’s Text4Alerts messaging service, to discontinue receiving text messages from OCTA, you will simply text the word “STOP” to 628246 and you will be removed from receiving ALL text messages from OCTA.

    If you just want to unsubscribe to a specific route, you simply text to 628246 the word “STOPALERT” and the route number you wish to stop receiving text messages on and you will be removed from that route list only.

    Example:
    STOPALERT 43

    What carriers are compatible with OCTA’s Text4Alerts service?

    Compatible cell phone carriers include: AT&T, All West Wireless, Appalachian Wireless (EKN), Bluegrass Cellular, Boost Mobile, Cambridge Cellular (CTC), Cellular One of East Central Illinois (ECIT), Centennial Wireless, Cincinnati Bell, Cox Communications, Cricket, Dobson, FMTC (Farmers Mutual Telephone Cooperative), GCI Communications, Inland Cellular, Illinois Valley Cellular (IVC), Keystone Wireless (Immix/PC Management), Nex-Tech Wireless, Nextel, NNTC Wireless (Nucla-Naturita Phone Company), MetroPCS, Revol Wireless, Silver Star PCS (Gold Star Communications), Snake River PCS (Eagle Telephone Systems), South Central Wireless, Sprint, Syringa Wireless, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular, UBET Wireless (UBTA-UBET), Unicel (RCC/Rural Cellular Corporation), United Wireless, Verizon, Virgin, West Central Wireless (includes Five Star Wireless).

    What is the cost for OCTA’s Text4Alerts service?

    There is no charge for using OCTA’s Text4Alerts service. However, standard text message and data rates apply. Check with your cell phone carrier for the text message details on your plan.

    Are there any additional carrier charges associated with the service?

    Standard message rates apply to all text messages. Message rates differ from carrier to carrier, so please contact your wireless phone service provider to inquire about the details of your plan.
