NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING ON THE INTEGRATED INTERAGENCY PRE-APPLICATION PROCESS (IIP) ON ELECTRIC GRID TRANSMISSION

The Department of Energy (DOE) proposes to amend its regulations for the timely coordination of Federal Authorizations for proposed interstate electric transmission facilities pursuant to section 216(h) of the Federal Power Act (FPA). The proposed amendments are intended to improve the preapplication procedures and result in more efficient processing of applications. Public comment on this proposed rule will be accepted until April 4, 2016. Comments received by DOE are available here.

The first attachment below is the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that was published in the Federal Register on February 2, 2016.

DOE will hold a public workshop on March 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time to discuss the proposed rule. The public workshop will include a presentation describing the proposed rule and will allow for questions and comments on the rule. The second attachment below is the Notice of Public Meeting that was published in the Federal Register on March 7, 2016.

If you would like to receive further information on the proposed rule or IIP process, please include your email address in your email.

Written comments are welcome before or after the workshop and should be submitted prior to the end of the public comment period for the proposed rule (April 4, 2016).
