Already have the U.S. Navy mobile app? You’re in for a treat as well. On May 26, the Navy app released an update that adds a personalized “News Locker,” push notifications and a variety of other upgrades.

My News Locker. Allows you to save and store photo, video and story content into your own custom “locker” to review later, or just to help collect content on specific events for future reference.

Push notifications. Automatically sends alerts when breaking news is posted to Navy.mil. This feature also provides another venue in which to alert users on important information directly to the Sailor or family members’ smartphones or tablets, e.g. “TA reinstated at 100% in FY15,” or “Chief results are out!”

Other updates. Per user feedback, improvements also have been made to the operation of the map, calendar and photo gallery design, along with various bug fixes and performance upgrades.
