Ambulance Operations
Tuolumne County Ambulance Service provides emergency and non-emergency medical transport services within the geographical boundaries of the County of Tuolumne, excluding the portion within the boundaries of Yosemite National Park.  Tuolumne County Ambulance Service has proudly served this community for nearly 30 years. Over 60 full-time and part-time Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are employed, handling approximately 8,000 calls per year.  Tuolumne County Ambulance Service takes an active role in analyzing program operations to improve the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system in our area.

History
Tuolumne County Ambulance Service became part of the Human Services Agency in July 1986, taking over operation of the Pinecrest ambulance service. In April of 1987, the Agency added ambulance services for the rest of the county. Currently, there are five ambulances available 24/7, stationed in Sonora, East Sonora, Mono Vista, and Groveland. A reserve fleet of five ambulances is used for non-emergency transfers, fire standby and special events, and can be called into active duty during periods of high call volume.

Ambulance Partnership
Since 1987, Manteca District Ambulance Service has provided ambulance staffing and daily operations based on a contract awarded via an open bidding process. Manteca District Ambulance Service is a private not-for-profit company that fits well into the Human Services Agency under its Public Health Department’s EMS Agency.
