District Attorney
Mission Statement
The mission of the Tuolumne County District Attorney's Office is to seek justice, protect the public, ensure the rights of victims, and prevent crime through the vigorous, equitable, and ethical application of the law. Truth and justice shall guide each prosecutor exercising authority and discretion on behalf of the community.

District Attorney Laura L. Krieg
Laura L. Krieg was elected as Tuolumne County’s District Attorney on June 5, 2014, and sworn into office on January 5, 2015.

Ms. Krieg graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1999.  She received her Juris Doctorate law degree from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend Indiana in 2003.  Following law school, Ms. Krieg joined the firm Thelen Reid & Priest in their San Francisco office.  While there, she specialized in Commercial Litigation and Construction law.  

In 2005, Ms. Krieg joined the Tuolumne County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney.  She was recognized as Deputy District Attorney of the year by the American Legion Post #58 in 2008 and 2013.  In 2013, she became the Assistant District Attorney, vertically handling all of the Felony Domestic Violence cases, many Sexual Assault cases, general felony cases, as well as becoming the lead prosecutor in the office for the Tuolumne Narcotics Team and Prison Crimes.

Ms. Krieg is a member of the California District Attorneys Association and the Tuolumne County Bar Association.  Currently she is the Chair of the Tuolumne County Educational Law Committee, the Tuolumne County Sexual Assault Response Team, and the Tuolumne County Kids Interview Team.
