Westside Multi-Use Events Application (TEDA CUP16-007)

Tuolumne Economic Development Authority (TEDA) on behalf of the Tuolumne Band of Mi-Wuk Indians have applied for a Conditional Use Permit to allow multiple music/entertainment events on their Tuolumne Westside properties, including the 2016 Fall Strawberry Music Festival. Fall Strawberry will take place from Thursday September 1, 2016 through September 5, 2016. Other events could include sporting or entertainment events ranging from multi-day festivals similar to Strawberry to single day events with less than 1,000 participants.

The Fall Strawberry Festival is expected to involve as many as 6,000 guests, performers, staff and volunteers, with up to 3,500 camping onsite. Future large-scale events could include both Spring and Fall Strawberry Festivals, and possibly others of a similar nature. Smaller scale events could include single day or evening music concerts as well as sporting events, fund-raisers, and other similar gatherings. These events would take place on a total of three parcels zoned C-K (Commercial Recreation) and O (Open Space) under Title 17 of the Tuolumne County Ordinance Code.

The site also has existing permits to complete the construction of a golf course. TEDA intends on completing the golf course, and would coordinate the golf course operations around the event schedule as larger events could necessitate temporary closures of the course.

The project site is 17807 Tuolumne Road, Tuolumne. Proposed Festival would occupy the majority of the 191+/- acre location comprising three parcels.  The project site is located within a portion of the southern ½ of Section 5 and the northern ½ of Section 8, Township 1 North, Range 16 East. Assessor’s Parcel Numbers 62-630-20, -22 and -24.
