$25 Annual Service Fee
For participants who have received any public assistance in the past, there is no charge for child support services. However, beginning October 1, 2011, and every October 1 thereafter, the California Child Support Program began assessing a $25 Annual Service Fee to all cases where the custodial person never received any public assistance. The service fee is withheld after the first $500 is disbursed each year from the never-assisted participant’s child support payment(s) received after October 1, until the $25 is fully recovered. Although the first disbursement(s) paid to the custodial party on or after October 1 will be reduced by $25, the paying parent will get full credit for the amount of the collection received. For more information about the $25 annual fee, click here. You can also view the $25 Annual Service Fee Frequently Asked Questions.
