Medical Versus Nonmedical Immunization Exemptions for Child Care and School Attendance
This new policy statement recognizes the dangers of nonmedical exemptions to the health of children and to public health in general. The AAP joins with other medical organizations, including the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the American Medical Association, in advocating for the elimination of nonmedical exemptions for immunization in all states. - Posted 12/12/16

Clinical report providing information for addressing parental concerns about vaccination
This clinical report provides information for addressing parental concerns about vaccination. Immunizations have led to a significant decrease in rates of vaccine-preventable diseases and have made a significant impact on the health of children. However, some parents express concerns about vaccine safety and the necessity of vaccines. The concerns of parents range from hesitancy about some immunizations to refusal of all vaccines. The report outlines strategies and approaches you can use with parents to help them make the decision to vaccinate their child. - Posted 8/30/16
August is National Immunization Awareness Month!
National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM) is an annual observance held in August to highlight the importance of vaccination for people of all ages. NIAM was established to encourage people of all ages to make sure they are up to date on the vaccines recommended for them. Communities have continued to use the month each year to raise awareness about the important role vaccines play in preventing serious, sometimes deadly, diseases. NIAM is sponsored by the National Public Health Information Coalition (NPHIC). For more information on the observance, visit NPHIC�s NIAM website.

National Influenza Vaccination Week is December 6–12
National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW), December 6–12, 2015, provides an opportunity to remind everyone 6 months and older that it's not too late to get flu vaccine. NIVW is a national observance established in 2005 by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to highlight the importance of continuing influenza vaccination after the holiday season into January and beyond.

The VFAP website, www.VaccineFactsAndPolicy.org, makes available an expansive compilation of detailed immunization data for use by immunization programs, partners, researchers, government, and the general public.
