Dr. Gerald D. Curry - Deputy Associate Under Secretary for Security

Dr. Gerald D. Curry

Dr. Gerald D. Curry is the Deputy Associate Under Secretary for Security within the Office of the Associate Under Secretary for Environment, Health, Safety and Security (AU). The office provides corporate leadership and strategic approaches for protecting DOE’s workers, the public, the environment and national security assets. This is accomplished through developing corporate policies and standards; sharing operating experience, lessons learned, and best practices; and providing assistance and supporting services as DOE’s security advocate.

Prior to his current position, Dr. Curry was a Security Specialist within DOE’s Office of Safeguards, Security, and Emergency Preparedness Office of Environmental Management. He served as a Directorate-level Chief of Staff at the Defense Security Service.

Dr. Curry is a retired Air Force Colonel with twenty seven years of honorable service. His last duty assignment was as Director of Security Forces for Headquarters Air Force Space Command. In this capacity he led an organization responsible for the entire spectrum of security policy and guidance for Air Force Space Command (AFSPC) forces worldwide, to include supporting five space wings operating at nine main bases, 10 stations and 621 sites worldwide.

Dr. Curry holds a doctorate degree in Management from Colorado Technical University, a Masters of Science in Public Administration from Troy State University, Graduate Certificate in Homeland Security from University of Colorado, in Colorado Springs, a Bachelor of Science in Health Education from Tennessee State University, and a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy.  He is extensively published in matters dealing with leadership, criminal justice, emergency management, and homeland security.
