Andrew Weston-Dawkes

Dr. Andrew Weston-Dawkes is the Director for the Office of Classification within the Office of Environment, Health, Safety and Security.  The Office of Classification manages the Government-wide program to classify and declassify nuclear weapons-related technology as authorized under the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 and implements the requirements of Executive Order 13526 regarding the classification and declassification of information that is vital to national security. The office also establishes policy for Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information and Official Use Only information.

Dr. Weston-Dawkes has over 20 years of experience working for the U.S. Department of Energy within the Office of Classification. Prior to DOE, Dr. Weston-Dawkes worked for the U.S. Navy in the field of Nuclear Intelligence.  Dr. Weston-Dawkes began his federal service as a chemist performing electrochemical studies for the U.S. Bureau of Mines. 

Dr. Weston-Dawkes has a Ph.D. in Nuclear Chemistry from the University of Maryland and a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Maryland.
