The U.S. Navy Rating System is Valuable

Corpsman, for example, have distinct skill sets that define them differently than yeoman or seamen. Extrapolate this ac...ross every rating (skill set) and one can get a glimpse into the importance of the U.S. Navy rating system.

There's constant discussion in civilian circles bout managing the transition from active duty to civilian careers focused on skill set (defined by the rating system).

Lumping all enlisted, regardless of training, into the same title via rank, undermines the very specific training that many have successfully navigated. It also abandons over 200 years of important tradition. It can't be overstated how important that tradition is on the valuable culture that defines the many different Navy ratings.

It's unequivocally incomprehensible to consider all Petty Officer Third, Second or First Class personnel will be defined along side each other...

Rank is NOT equal to RATING!

Rank within Rating is the ONLY viable metric for the volunteers serving in our military if we expect them to serve with pride, exceptionalism and continue exceeding their rating based missions.

Our collective quality of life rests on the shoulders of these young men & women volunteering to protect our freedoms.

Removing their rating diminishes their accomplishments and undermines their value...

Navy Medicine has an incredibly challenging time aligning their time lines and expectations with the directed time lines of the Marine Corps. A dissapointment every time.

Well I'm awfully prejudiced as I was a navy doctor for 30 years, but I do think as an organization, we really do love our patients, listen to them, cry for thei...r losses. And this is for the E1 to the 4 star--makes no difference. I truly believe that the U S Navy is a global force for good and so is Navy Medicine! See More

I've written a book titled: The Military on Trial: Medical Malpractice and Cover Up. Available on Amazon.com as an e-book. It details the maladies I suffered ...at NMCP, VA as an AD RN. It covers the misdiagnosis/malpractice involved in my jaw infection that disabled me without compensation, the selective shredding of my medical and dental records, mistreatment of it's soldiers and sailors, black balling techniques and more.
