Lepore, Spilka, Dempsey, Announce Consensus Revenue Forecast of $27.072B for Fiscal Year 2018
BOSTON – Secretary of Administration and Finance Kristen Lepore, Senate Ways and Means Chair Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland), and House Ways and Means Chair Brian S. Dempsey (D-Haverhill) today announced a consensus revenue forecast for Fiscal Year 2018 (FY18) of $27.072 billion, representing 3.9% growth in state tax revenue over the current Fiscal Year 2017 (FY17) projected revenues of $26.056 billion. The consensus revenue forecast represents the basis on which the Baker-Polito Administration, the House, and the Senate will build their respective FY18 budget recommendations.
Voluntary Separation Incentive Program (VSIP)
On October 17, 2016, Administration and Finance Secretary Kristen Lepore launched the Voluntary Separation Incentive Program to reduce state spending in the Executive Branch. To participate in this program, eligible employees must submit a completed VSIP application to their agency Human Resources Office by Monday, November 14, 2016.
Baker-Polito Administration Highlights Progress on Regulatory Reform Initiative
BOSTON – Governor Charlie Baker, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito and Administration and Finance Secretary Kristen Lepore joined the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) to highlight significant changes in state regulations as part of the Baker-Polito Administration’s extensive regulatory review process, including improving the lives of shelter animals and increasing space and flexibility for animal shelters.
A&F Secretary Kristen Lepore Appoints Ronald J. Arigo as Commonwealth’s Chief Human Resources Director
BOSTON – Executive Office for Administration and Finance Secretary Kristen Lepore today named Ronald J. Arigo as Chief Human Resources Director for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts effective October 1, 2016. In his role, Mr. Arigo will head the Human Resources Division (HRD), which is responsible for the talent acquisition and management for Executive Branch employees.
Legislation Signed Enhancing Partnerships Between State and Municipal Governments
Governor Charlie Baker signed legislation improving critical components of the partnership between state and municipal governments by eliminating or updating obsolete laws, promoting local independence, streamlining state oversight and providing municipalities with greater flexibility. The legislation, An Act modernizing municipal finance and government (H. 4565), reflects operational modernization and technological advancement at the local level, allowing municipalities to better address local issues.
Hiring Transparency Initiative Announced
Governor Baker announced the launch of the Baker-Polito Administration’s hiring transparency initiative, providing new online search features for new hires in Executive Department offices. Effective immediately, the public will have access to a web page within the state’s transparency website, Open Checkbook, that provides more detailed information on recently hired state workers.
