“I enjoyed the opportunity to attend a number of diverse trainings. I have enjoyed working with my coach in OEMR who helped train me and get me up to speed on how to analyze filings. I work in the market-based rate program within OEMR West. I was given complex filings and tasks early on. The Market Based Rates (MBR) program processes a high volume of filings so my days are generally pretty busy switching between the more complex filings and the shorter MBR application filings. This includes data analysis, team coordination, and memo and order writing.”

What advice would you give to students interested in an Economics career at FERC?

“Take courses that require you to write memos or other technical papers. Also if you are not in a JD program, consider taking at least one law class as it can be very helpful. The analysis skills that I learned during my first year at the Commission have been very useful for my work on larger, more complex filings.”
