The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is USDA's principal agency that provides conservation technical assistance to private landowners, conservation districts, tribes, and other organizations. NRCS delivers conservation technical assistance through our voluntary Conservation Technical Assistance Program (CTA). CTA is available to any group or individual who wants to conserve our natural resources and sustain agricultural production in the Caribbean Area.

Ecological Sciences

NRCS uses many science-based disciplines to help people help the land. This inter-disciplinary approach to natural resources conservation is revealed through the following disciplines and related technical references and tools.

Electronic Field Office Technical Guide (eFOTG)

The Field Office Technical Guide (FOTG) is the primary scientific reference used by NRCS in conservation activities. The FOTG contains technical information about practices to conserve soil, water, air, energy, and plant and animal resources. Technical guides used in each field office are localized to apply specifically to each geographic area. These guides are available on-line as the electronic Field Office Technical Guide (eFOTG). Click on either PR or VI on the map to choose the area of information you're looking for.

Engineering

The Caribbean Area NRCS Engineering staff is made up of agricultural and civil engineers and engineering technicians that provide innovative, economical, and timely services to NRCS staff, conservation partners and private landowners. We provide planning, design, and construction services to solve problems related to soil erosion, water quality, agricultural waste management, and wetland restoration. View our Caribbean Area NRCS Engineering Web Page to locate the tools and information to solve your conservation engineering issues.

Plants

Soils

The Caribbean Area NRCS Soils Program provides quality soil, geographic, and resources information, products, and services - including the National Resources Inventory (NRI) - to internal and external customers.
