The Branch of Data and Systems Support (BDSS) - now fully incorporated into the Branch of Communication Technology (BCT) - continues to carry out its functions just as before.

The two main components of the former BDSS (now part of BCT) are:

Geospatial and Data Services (GDS): Led by National GIS Coordinator Chris Lett, GDS manages the following programs and activities for the Service: Data standards, data acquisition and sharing, geographic information systems (GIS), GIS data and software licenses, GIS metadata creation and publication, and other geospatial activities.

Systems Development Team (SDT): Led by Andrey Andreyev, SDT provides: Systems consultation and development, project coordination for Federal E-Gov projects and Department of the Interior (DOI) enterprise projects, software development consultation and services to other FWS programs and offices.
