Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge Biologist Maurry Mills, Volunteer Marilyn Kirchis, and SCA Bridget Wench presented a program on birds and their various adaptations to K through 4 students from the Whiting Village School at the Cobscook Community Learning Center in Trescott, Maine. The event was part of the 13 th Annual Down East Spring Birding Festival, which is sponsored by Moosehorn and the CCLC.

The program consisted of a discussion of bird adaptations using a collection of mounted birds. The students took a short walk with stops to discuss birds and their habitats. Teachers reported that the students enjoyed the program and especially liked the opportunity to see the mounted specimens up close.
