Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge recognized 95 volunteers for their hard work, passion, and dedication to the Refuge with plaques, pins, clocks, and Certificates of Appreciation while hosting the 29th Annual Volunteer Recognition on Saturday, June 6, 2015. In addition, Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen personally thanked everyone for their efforts. More than 150 volunteers contributed over 13,000 hours with projects and programs ranging from removing invasive species, weeding, gardening, building maintenance, grass cutting, checking wood duck boxes, to staffing the Wildlife Observation Center and the Helen C. Fenske Visitor Center. Community involvement has been an integral part of Great Swamp NWR since its inception. Staff, college interns, and graduate students also attended this event.
