Print Friendly Version

A teacher and 10 High School students helped Friends of Great Swamp NWR improve the Nature Detective Trail on a day Madison High School designates to volunteering at various locations around the county. The project involved spreading wood chips and weeding. After lunch, students were free to sightsee the Bochoven Trail, Vernal Pool Overlook, as well as tour the Helen C. Fenske Visitor Center. Staff shared information about the Refuge and the National Wildlife Refuge System. This annual Day of Service gave participants a chance to explore the outdoors while completing work for the benefit of wildlife and enjoyment of visitors.
