With the ever increasing effect of technology in our everyday lives, new and novel approaches to help reconnect people to nature are an essential part to an effective visitor services program. The Long Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex has recently installed a new Smartphone tour at Wertheim National Wildlife Refuge to help connect the technological to the natural. The iNature Trail runs along both the Connector and the Black Tupelo trails for a nearly four mile educational experience. Anyone with a smartphone and a QR code reader can easily enjoy all 15 stops along the trail by simply scanning the QR code and letting your phone do the rest. And don't worry if you don't have a smartphone, copies of all the stops will be available to read at the visitor center's front desk.
