The Winona District of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge welcomed 20 Winona State University students to participate in a two hour canoe adventure led by UMRNWFR Ranger Ed Lagace. Many of the students had never been in a canoe and none had ever been on the Refuge before. Students were interested in the different types of vegetation and all the fish darting here-and-there in the water under the canoes. As the students departed the McNally boat landing, there were many comments about what a wonderful place the Refuge is and many wanted to return to fish and explore its hidden secrets.
