  • 2017 DOE Safety and Security Enforcement Workshop

    The DOE Office of Enterprise Assessments’ (EA) Office of Enforcement will host the 2017 DOE Safety and Security Enforcement Workshop May 9 and 10, 2017, at the Nevada Support Facility/Nevada Field Office in North Las Vegas, Nevada. The workshop will be held in conjunction with the Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) Regulatory and Enforcement Technical Subgroup, which will hold a contractor-only meeting on enforcement-related topics on May 11 at the same location.

  • Nuclear Executive Leadership Training (NELT) 2016

    The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Enterprise Assessments, National Training Center (NTC) conducted its 16th annual Nuclear Executive Leadership Training (NELT) on August 15-19, 2016 in Washington, DC. Since the inception of NELT in 2005, approximately 375 senior personnel across the complex have participated in this event. The course is guided by an Executive Steering Committee consisting of senior manager representatives from six organizations in the Department. Participation in NELT is by invitation only using established criteria and includes managers and deputy managers from the field and senior managers from DOE and NNSA headquarters.

  • 2016 Update to the DOE Safety and Security Enforcement Process Overview

    EA’s Office of Enforcement is publishing an update to the DOE Safety and Security Enforcement Process Overview (EPO) to reflect several program changes that the office is implementing in 2016. These changes are based on feedback offered by DOE’s Federal and contractor enforcement community as well as program enhancements that have been adopted over the past year. In May, the Office of Enforcement briefed approximately 100 Federal and contractor enforcement coordinators on these enhancements at its annual Enforcement Workshop.

  • 10 C.F.R. Part 820 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking

    The Department of Energy (DOE) is proposing to amend 10 C.F.R. Part 820, Procedural Rules for DOE Nuclear Activities, to clarify that the Department may assess civil penalties against certain contractors and subcontractors for violations of the prohibition against retaliating against an employee who reports violations of law, mismanagement, waste, abuse, or dangerous/unsafe workplace conditions, among other protected activities, concerning nuclear safety (referred to as “whistleblowers”).

  • Independent Oversight Program Order approved by Deputy Secretary

    Deputy Secretary of Energy Elizabeth Sherwood-Randall approved a new Independent Oversight Program Order (DOE O 227.1A) on December 21, 2015. The Order prescribes the requirements and responsibilities for the DOE Independent Oversight Program, which is implemented by the Office of Enterprise Assessments. The requirements in this directive are designed to ensure that the Independent Oversight Program is implemented in a transparent, efficient, and constructive manner to support the safe and secure accomplishment of DOE’s missions.
