Enforcement InfoCenter

The Department of Energy’s (DOE) Safety and Security Enforcement Program conducts enforcement activities for Federal regulatory requirements pertaining to worker safety and health, nuclear safety, and classified information security under authorities granted to the Secretary of Energy by the Atomic Energy Act. The program enforces Federal regulatory requirements pertaining to worker safety and health, nuclear safety, and classified information security under authorities granted to the Energy Secretary by the Atomic Energy Act. This includes the authority to levy civil penalties against DOE contractors and subcontractors that violate Departmental requirements in these areas. The enforcement program uses a variety of mechanisms, which are reflected on this web site, to communicate with DOE contractors about regulatory and compliance issues. These mechanisms include Notices of Violation, Consent Orders, Settlement Agreements, Compliance Orders, Special Report Orders, and Enforcement Letters.
