Ding ding…ding ding.
DoD News, arriving!
That’s right, folks. As of July 8, American Forces Press Service, DoD Social Media and The Pentagon Channel aka “TPC” are combining to become DoD News. This will include the July 9th launch of a new and improved Defense.gov homepage. This unified direction will speak with one voice for the benefit of all end users around the world.
So, how will this affect you?
Frequent fans and viewers of Defense.gov can expect a richer content experience. And no, I don’t mean you will win a million dollars, a trip to the Bahamas, or lifetime supply of peanut M&M’s. (Although, that would be awesome!)
What I’m saying is that you, our viewers, will see new features and enhancements, to include integrated print and video news products for a more comprehensive offering of information.
Our official DoD Facebook and Twitter feeds will be in plain view on the page to allow visitors to see what’s happening on social media. Woohoo, social media! For you blog lovers, we will showcase selected DoD blogs that give unique perspectives on various topics, as well as human-interest stories.
The new DoD News Channel will provide up-to-date coverage 24/7, covering and chronicling the most important issues in the Defense Department. The channel will offer senior DoD leaders a vehicle to communicate directly with service members and the American public on defense policy and related matters. Viewers will also find a new news ticker/promo crawl with headlines constantly updating to provide the most current news in real-time. This is in addition to the quality programming our military audience has come to expect and appreciate.
In short, we are very excited and you should be too! We look forward to better serving you with a fresh new approach to breaking DoD news. So, mark your calendar and stay tuned!
