Major Campaigns Underway
National park friends groups and other partners sometimes take on major projects with parks that require widespread public support to achieve extraordinary results. Recent projects include:
  • Yosemite Conservancy is raising $20 million to restore Yosemite National Park's Mariposa Grove. This project will preserve the trees and the extraordinary experiences they make possible, as well as the unique wildlife that call the Mariposa Grove home.
  • Grand Teton National Park Foundation has joined Grand Teton National Park in a $17 million, multi-year partnership project honoring the NPS centennial. This project will transform Jenny Lake's trails, bridges, key destinations, and visitor complex creating an inviting trail system and captivating experience for the 21st century visitor.
A Few of Our Friends
With the support of park Friends Groups, we enrich the park experience for more that 275 million visitors every year and enhance our care of more than 400 national parks. Meet some of our friends:
  • The Conservancy For Cuyahoga Valley National Park, through its Trails Forever Capital Project fundraising campaign, is helping the park develop a new system of off-road bicycle trails along the park's eastern edge.
  • Everglades National Park's Everglades Wilderness Writing Expedition was made possible through generous support from the National Park Foundation and the South Florida National Parks Trust, and through in-kind support from North Carolina Outward Bound School, University of Miami, Florida International University, Florida Atlantic University, the South Dade News Leader and Fairchild Tropical Botanical Gardens. This program sponsored 10 local journalism and writing students in a four week immersion experience in the park's Marjory Stoneman Douglas Wilderness.
