The Centennial Volunteer Ambassadors are a group of young adults, over 100 strong, brought together through a partnership between the National Park Service and the Student Conservation Association to lend their talents, energy, and enthusiasm to help strengthen the bonds between communities and parks in support of the National Park Service's 100th anniversary in 2016.
The Ambassadors, recent high school and college graduates, will spend one year in national parks across the county working to expand service-learning and volunteer efforts and coordinate group service opportunities. They will recruit, coordinate, and manage volunteer work groups throughout the year, with a special emphasis on national service dates such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Earth Day, National Public Lands Day, and Veterans Day.
Ambassadors will serve with the Volunteers in Parks program at national parks throughout the country, with a focus on parks in urban areas. Learn more about the program here.
This partnership supports the Department of the Interior's Youth Initiative to expand educational, volunteer, and career opportunities for millions of youth and veterans on the nation's public lands.
