EA-2005: Finding of No Significant Impact

Chromium Plume Control Interim Measure and Plume-Center Characterization, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM

Based upon the review of the EA prepared by DOE pursuant to the requirements of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), DOE has determined that the planned interim measure to control chromium plume migration while long-term corrective action remedies are evaluated and implemented would not be a major Federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment within the meaning of NEPA.  Therefore, an environmental impact statement is not required, and DOE is issuing this FONSI. Included within this FONSI is a Mitigation Action Plan (MAP). The MAP contains mitigation and monitoring commitments related to both the construction activities and operation of the proposed interim measure that were selected by the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) and implemented by DOE EM.
