Christopher Emdin Ph.D is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Science and Technology at Teachers College, Columbia University; where he also serves as Director of Science Education at the Center for Health Equity and Urban Science Education. He was previously a Caperton Fellow and Hip-Hop Archive Fellow at the Hutchins Center at Harvard University, and was recently selected to be a STEM Access Champion of Change by the White House. Dr. Emdin is the founder of the Science Genius project and the #HipHopEd social media movement – each of which explore the intersections of hip-hop culture and education. He is author of the award winning book, Urban Science Education for the Hip-Hop Generation.
