This chart shows the number of truck stop electrification (TSE) sites in the United States from 2006 to 2014. These sites allow long-haul trucks to power climate control systems and appliances with off-board sources of electricity, thereby reducing the need to idle truck engines. The number of TSE sites more than doubled between 2006 and 2009. The number of sites dropped precipitously in 2010, because a major provider went out of business in January of that year. Sites have been rebounded since then, but have not yet surpassed their 2009 peak.
