AFV Registrations
Source: R.L. Polk & Co.
This figure illustrates the breakdown of AFVs registered in the U.S., as of 2014. The majority of the vehicles are light-duty FFVs but those operate on gasoline most of the time. These vehicles were produced and sold as a way for vehicle manufacturers to meet their fuel economy requirements. Light-duty HEVs are the second most numerous AFVs. The remaining vehicles account for just 2.3% of AFV registrations. CNG vehicles are the most numerous heavy-duty AFV.
