While in D.C.

Highsmith's America, Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division. The ICCA will travel to Washington, DC on September 13, 2016. While there, participants will attend meetings at the U.S. Department of Interior buildings, will have a walking tour of the National Mall, and have a special event planned for the evening. Washington, named after the first President of the United States and a “founding father” of our Constitution—George Washington—is the capital of the United States and located along the Potomac River on the country’s east coast. The city was founded in 1791 and has an estimated population of 672,000, but swells to over 1,000,000 during the workweek. It is home to all three branches of the federal government—the legislative, judicial and executive branches. It houses many monuments and museums which are primarily situated on or around the National Mall.

While in Denver

The ICCA will travel to Denver, Colorado on September 16 2016. While there, participants will tour the National Wildlife Property Repository, the National Eagle Repository, and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Located just northeast of Denver, the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge is a 15,000-acre expanse of prairie, wetland and woodland habitat. The land has a unique story - it has survived the test of time and transitioned from farmland, to war-time manufacturing site, to wildlife sanctuary. It may be one of the finest conservation success stories in history and a place where wildlife thrives.
