which constitutes the "organic act" for the Forest Service.
- The Multiple Use Sustained Yield Act of 1960 (16
U.S.C. 528 et seq.)
established purposes for the Forest System, including outdoor recreation, range, timber,
watershed and fish and wildlife.
- The Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act (16
U.S.C. 2100 et seq.), authorizes
the Secretary of Agriculture to cooperate on forest management issues with non-Federal forest
