NAG’s Environmental Happy Hour at Muchmores Williamsburg
Do you want to get involved with a North Brooklyn neighborhood group and care about environmental issues? Join us for a drink!
The talks are purposefully short so that you’ll have plenty of time to grab a drink and talk directly with the experts and your neighbors.
Muchmores bar & venue
2 Havemeyer St (at N9th) in Williamsburg
Tuesday, December 6th, 6:30-8:30pm
(presentations 7:00-7:30pm)
This happy hour will be hosted by NAG organizer (and national plastic bag policy expert) Jennie Romer and will feature short (5 minute) presentations by:
– Emily Bachman manages the Compost Program at GrowNYC, a Zero Waste Program funded by the NYC Department of Sanitation. She oversees 45 residential food scrap drop-off locations in all five boroughs of NYC, which have collectively diverted over 7.5 million pounds of food scraps from landfills since 2011.
– Charlotte Binns is the Executive Director of Go Green Brooklyn (www.GoGreenBK.org), a central hub for all eco-related stories, events and resources in North Brooklyn. Previously, Charlotte worked at Blue State Digital, the agency that mobilized America for President Obama. Prior to that, Charlotte set up and ran Call2Action, a SaaS platform serving nonprofits, which she sold in 2014. Call2Action was one of the first companies to become a Benefit Corporation in the State of NY. Charlotte is, at heart, a social entrepreneur who loves to organize local communities around sustainability and has recently won close to $500,000 in grants for local greening efforts.- One other speaker to be announced soon . . .
Other environmental experts that will be in attendance include:
– Rita Pasarell, NAG’ s Board Chair (ask her about NAG’s ToxiCity map and the NuHart Superfund site)
