February 2012 - UniSource Energy Services is now offering a solar green power program, Bright Arizona Community Solar. The program allows electric customers to purchase solar power from two recently completed solar generating systems in Mohave County, Arizona, with a combined capacity of 1.7 megawatts.
Beginning in February 2012, customers may purchase the solar generated power in 150 kilowatt-hour blocks at a rate of $3 per block. There are 1,720 blocks of generated solar power available from the two new solar systems and customers may purchase blocks equivalent to up to 100 percent of their electricity needs.
Purchases are exempt from UniSource's Renewable Energy Standard Tariff and the Purchased Power and Fuel Adjustment Clause, surcharges that are adjusted annually.

August 2004 - UniSource Energy Services (UES), an investor-owned utility providing electric service to about 77,000 customers in Arizona, announced the launch of its GreenWatts program. Customer participants can sponsor one watt (20 kWh) of solar power generation by contributing $2 each month, or 10¢/kWh. Each additional watt or 20-kWh block of green power is priced at $1.50 per month, or 7.5¢/kWh. Proceeds from the GreenWatts program will be used to build new solar power projects in communities served by UES. Until UES can establish its own sources of renewable energy, a portion of the customer contributions will be used to purchase green power "credits," or renewable energy certificates, from other sources.
The utility intends to use both the green power credits and the energy generated from the solar systems to meet Arizona's Environmental Portfolio Standard, which requires the state's utilities to derive a percentage of their total retail energy sales from solar and other renewable energy sources. Under a separate program, UES is offering incentives of up to $3,000 per kilowatt for residential or business customers who install new grid-connected photovoltaic systems.
