June 1997 - Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) has developed a Sun Power for Schools program with a minimum goal of installing 20 kW of PV systems on public school facilities. Customers can make voluntary monthly fixed-dollar or lump-sum contributions at any time. HECO will contribute additional funding (a total of $140,000 for two years).
