Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center (EMCBC)

Environmental Management Consolidated Business Center (EMCBC)

SITE OVERVIEW
The Department of Energy (DOE) established the EMCBC in Cincinnati, OH, on June 7, 2004, to provide Environmental Management customers with required and improved business and technical support services. Establishing the EMCBC allowed EM's Closure Sites, EM and DOE Headquarters, and other (i.e., non-EM) Departmental elements to consolidate many of the functions necessary to support EM's mission.  By consolidating these functions in one centralized location, EM has reduced redundancies of services being performed at each individual site. The consolidation of these support services such as: Financial Management, Human Resources Management, Contracting, Legal Services, Technical Services and Assess Management, Cost Estimating and Project Management; Civil Rights and Diversity, and Information Resource Management allows EM to operate in a more cost efficient and effective manner.

The EMCBC Strategic Plan articulates the strong commitment of the EMCBC and its employees to meet the needs of EM in its mission to complete the safe cleanup of the environmental legacy brought about by fifty years of nuclear weapons development and government-sponsored nuclear energy research. The recently issued Customer Service Standards commit the EMCBC to providing accurate and timely customer service as a "Core Value."

The EMCBC also has line management authority for EM Small Sites: (Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC), Moab Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action (UMTRA) Project, Separations Process Research Unit (SPRU), West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) and EM Cleanup Work at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) and Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) National Accelerator Laboratory.
