General Mills, one of the world's leading food companies, operates in more than 100 countries and six continents. With more than 41,000 employees, General Mills produces 100+ food and snack brands available to consumers around the world including Cheerios, Yoplait, Nature Valley, FiberOne, Green Giant and more.

General Mills’ goal is to continually reduce the company’s environmental footprint from agriculture practices to global operations, particularly focusing on reducing natural resource consumption and sustainably sourcing the raw materials used for General Mills products.

General Mills’ commitment to reduce energy consumption in its operations continues to yield improvements in the energy efficiency of processes around the world since 2005. Through the company’s energy audit program, employees can collect and share sustainability best practices across our locations, such as optimization of dryers, ovens and freezers; building heating and cooling system improvements; and lighting replacement innovations.

The combined savings from individual projects at each plant location has resulted in significant energy reductions across the company. For example, in fiscal 2013, General Mills reduced the energy usage rate at seven Big G cereal locations by 6 percent using this process, which translates to almost 60 million kWh and a saving of $3.7 million.
