New DON CIO Website: Your IT Resource

By Command Communications Team - Published, January 24, 2008

The Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer unveiled its newly redesigned web site this week. In addition to its updated look and feel, the web site's organization and underlying technology have been improved to better equip users to locate information in just one or two clicks.

Utilizing Web 2.0 technology, all content is now tagged with key words to provide better search results as well as related information you may have missed on the site in the past. The key word tags are visible on the site, providing users the option to search on related content by merely clicking on the tag.

On the new web site you now have multiple ways to reach the information you are looking for as well. You can find information organized by the topic areas listed on the homepage of the web site, with the option to search the entire list of tags. You can also locate information using the global search tool at the top of the web page. As in the past, you still have the opportunity to submit questions or comments to the DON CIO's subject matter experts in the "Ask an Expert" section of the web site or from any tag results page.

With this update, the DON CIO strives to make its web site the DON IT resource with the latest information management and information technology news, policy, products and events. Look for additional rich media in the future such as RSS feeds and blogging as a multifaceted approach to disseminating information.

We welcome your comments on the new web site. You can submit your thoughts in the “Contact Us” section.
