A newly-independent company, eBay is currently evaluating new public goals that reflect the substantial changes in its portfolio and businesses. While the organization does not currently have a firm public efficiency goal, eBay continues to focus on driving energy efficiency and carbon reduction in its operational conduct. The strategy is threefold: 
1. Strive for radical efficiency in facilities and processes, including the development of innovative new metrics that provide insight to better inform action
2. Generate on-site clean energy when and where it is appropriate
3. Procure additional clean energy from off-site sources

As a Better Buildings Challenge Data Center Partner, eBay has committed to reducing the energy intensity of its data centers by 60% over a 10 year period. eBay set an ambitious goal to reach a  1.278 power usage effectiveness (PUE) across its 302,000 square feet of data center space by 2021.
