Watershed Profile (by 8-digit Hydrologic Unit Subbasin):

The Natural Resources Conservation Service in Oregon has produced Subbasin Profiles to provide a natural resource snapshot and overview of each Oregon 8-Digit Hydrologic Unit. The Subbasin Profiles organize into one document information that local conservationists, landowners and others can use to: identify conservation opportunities and direct technical and financial resources to the appropriate subbasins. They provide a concise description of the subbasins’ natural resources, resource concerns, conservation needs, and ability to resolve natural resource issues. These profiles organize into one document what most local conservationists and landowners already know about their watersheds.

  • Physical resources
  • Landuse and land cover
  • Common Resource Areas
  • Soil, stream, precipitation data
  • Resource Concerns
  • Census and Social Data
  • Progress/Status of Conservation by Land Use

Most of the data for the profiles were collected through the National Land Cover Data Set, NRCS-National Resources Inventory, Census of Agriculture, and numerous Oregon State Agencies. Local conservationists verified data.

The profiles organize into one document what most local conservationists and landowners already know about their watersheds. The profiles can help conservation leaders in Oregon identify conservation opportunities and direct technical and financial resources to the appropriate subbasins.

Eleven profiles are complete and currently available. Over the course of the year, the remaining eighty-one subbasin profiles in the state will be completed and posted to Oregon’s NRCS website.

If you have questions about the profiles, contact Oregon’s NRCS Water Resources Planning Team at 503-414-3202.
