Advanced Materials Technologies Available for Licensing

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories and participating research institutions have advanced materials technologies available for licensing. They help improve the efficiency, economics, environmental acceptability, and safety of energy generation, conversion, transmission, and use.

Many of the advanced materials technologies developed by DOE laboratories have applications in energy efficiency and renewable energy including:

  • Concentrating solar power
  • Hydrogen and fuel cells
  • Hydropower
  • Photovoltaics
  • Wind power

DOE's Materials Sciences subprogram oversees R&D in advanced materials technologies for other applications.
