April 2005 - At an April 12 public hearing, the Los Alamos (NM) County Council adopted an ordinance calling for the Department of Public Utilities
to implement a program under which customers can subscribe to purchase 100-kWh blocks of green power at a rate of $1.80 per block (1.8¢/kWh) in addition to the regular electricity rate. Customers may also choose to subscribe to green power for 90% of their monthly electric consumption at the same premium rate of 1.8¢/kWh. Public Service of New Mexico will supply the green power for the program from a 204-MW wind project located near Fort Sumner, New Mexico.

December 2003 - Public Service of New Mexico (PNM), an investor-owned utility serving 385,000 customers in New Mexico, announced that just two months after launching its PNM Sky Blue green pricing program, it has enrolled about 3,400 residential customers and nearly 40 businesses, far exceeding the company's expectations. PNM has signed up nearly four times as many residential customers as planned and twice as many businesses.
Under the program, residential and small-business customers can purchase 100-kWh monthly blocks of wind energy for an extra $1.80, or a premium of 1.8¢/kWh. Large businesses can purchase wind energy for up to 90% of their electricity usage at the same rate of 1.8¢/kWh. Power for the program is supplied from a new, 204-MW wind project located near Fort Sumner, New Mexico. PNM also sells 50 MW of the wind project output to Salt River Project for its EarthWise Energy green pricing program.

August 2003 - The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) approved a green pricing program that Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) will offer to its customers beginning October 1. The PNM Sky Blue product consists of 100% wind energy from the newly constructed New Mexico Wind Energy Center, a 204-MW project located near House, NM.
Residential and small business customers can purchase the wind energy in 100-kWh blocks or to meet 90% of their monthly electricity needs at a premium of 1.8¢/kWh. Large business customers can participate in the program by purchasing wind energy as a percentage of their monthly electricity usage at the same 1.8¢/kWh premium.

June 2003 - Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) has filed a revised tariff with the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission to lower the cost of its proposed wind energy option to 1.8¢/kWh from 2.5¢/kWh. Once the program is approved, residential and small business customers will have the option to purchase wind energy in 100-kWh blocks or to meet up to 90% of their monthly electricity needs. Larger business customers will be able to purchase wind energy in various percentages of their total electricity use. The wind power will be supplied from the 204-MW New Mexico Wind Energy Center, which is expected to be operational later this year. PNM hopes to begin subscribing customers for the program in the fall.

October 2002 - Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM), an investor-owned utility serving more than 1.3 million retail electricity customers in New Mexico, plans to seek regulatory approval for a voluntary tariff that will allow its customers to buy wind-generated electricity "for a small monthly premium." The company has entered into an agreement with FPL Energy to purchase the output of a 204-MW wind farm to be developed in eastern New Mexico in 2003. Any power from the project not subscribed by customers under the green pricing program would be sold on the wholesale market, either within New Mexico or outside of the state. When operational, the wind project will represent about 8% of the utility's total generating capacity.
