Capabilities of DON Cyberspace/IT Workforce to Improve

Fast Fact IconThe Department of the Navy recently established policy for professional development of the DON Cyberspace/Information Technology Workforce through a continuous learning program.

As outlined in Secretary of the Navy Instruction 1543.2, "Cyberspace/Information Technology Continuous Learning," released Nov. 30, 2012, all Cyberspace/IT professionals will participate annually in 40 hours of continuous learning activities. The continuous learning program will include education, training, certification and other activities that support the sustainment and continued improvement of the capabilities of the DON Cyberspace/IT Workforce. Continuous learning will be accomplished through a blended solution of formal classroom training, experience and electronic media. Learning activities may range from on-the-job training to operational exercises.

The goal of the Cyberspace/IT Workforce continuous learning program is to improve cyberspace operations, cyberspace mission effectiveness and increase readiness across the cyberspace domain. The continuous learning program is structured to support the professional development of the Cyberspace/IT WF throughout their careers.
