Lynda C. Pierce, Performing the Duties of the Principal Deputy, Department of the Navy Chief Information Officer

Lynda PierceMs. Lynda C. Pierce was selected to perform the duties of Principal Deputy Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Department of the Navy (DON) in November 2014. In this role she assists the CIO in carrying out his responsibilities and provides guidance to the DON CIO's functional teams: Cybersecurity, Enterprise Infrastructure, IT Analysis & Internal Controls, Privacy & Information Sharing, and Strategic Spectrum Policy.

She has also served as DON CIO Chief of Staff and Director of IT Policy & Communication since March 2011. In this role she is responsible for all staffing matters within the DON CIO, oversight of IT policy and guidance, and leading execution of DON-wide communication initiatives.

Prior to joining the Civil Service, Ms. Pierce provided communication support to the DON CIO. Ms. Pierce's prior experience includes providing analysis, training, and documentation support to private industry and government clients. Ms. Pierce began her career at Westinghouse Nuclear Energy Division in Pittsburgh, PA.

She is a native of New York, with an undergraduate degree from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master's degree in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University. She is a 2014 Fed 100 award recipient, and has received the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service award.
