Air Quality

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection implements air quality programs under the Clean Air Act and state law. The Department monitors air quality across the state, licenses emissions from larger facilities, and conducts compliance assistance and inspection visits. The Department collaborates with local, state and federal agencies to plan and implement strategies to protect Maine’s air quality.

New RFG Requirements Emergency legislation was approved on March 6, 2014 that delays the implementation of reformulated gasoline requirements in Maine from May 1, 2014 to June 1, 2015. See Public Law Chapter 453 (pdf).
